Kep1er to continue as 7-member group post-contract renewal
K-pop girl group Kep1er, originally a nine-member ensemble formed through Mnet's survival audition program Girls Planet 999, will continue its activities with seven members. As the contract expiration approaches, it was confirmed on Wednesday that seven members, namely Yujin, Xiaoting, Chaehyun, Dayeon, Hikaru, Huening Bahiyyih, and Youngeun, had decided to extend their activities with the group. The official statement from agencies WAKEONE and SWING Entertainment announced the renewal of contracts for these seven members.
Mashiro and Yeseo to depart after upcoming concert
Following extensive discussions, it was decided that members Mashiro and Yeseo would conclude their activities with Kep1er after an upcoming concert. The companies, WAKEONE and SWING Entertainment, expressed gratitude toward both departing members for their dedication over the past two and a half years. They also pledged support for Mashiro's and Yeseo's future endeavors, marking the end of their journey with Kep1er. Notably, reports surrounding Mashiro and Yeseo's departure have been doing the rounds for a while.
Kep1er's future plans and upcoming comeback
"WAKEONE and SWING Entertainment will also proactively support the musical growth of each member, the remaining overseas promotions including the concert in Japan in July and the local promotions for the first and the last studio album as a nine-member group," read the statement. Kep1er will make a comeback on June 3 with Kep1going On, marking their first full-length album. All nine members will participate.
