5 most anticipated films to release in rest of 2018
So far, 2018 has seen some blockbuster releases, with the likes of 'Padmaavat', 'Sonu ke Titu ki Sweety', 'PadMan', Salman Khan-starrer 'Race 3', and Rajkumar Hirani's 'Sanju'. But some of the most anticipated films of the year are yet to release. These will star names as big as ShahRukh Khan, Aamir, Big B and also include debutants like Jhanvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan.
Sridevi's daughter, Jhanvi Kapoor's debut film Dhadak to hit screens
The Bollywood remake of the critically-acclaimed 2016 Marathi Blockbuster, 'Sairat' will be hitting the screens across India on July 20. The film stars late actress Sridevi's daughter Jhanvi Kapoor, and Shahid Kapoor's half-brother Ishaan Khatter. It will be Ishaan's second project after he did Majid Majidi-directed 'Beyond The Clouds' (2018). Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the film has been produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.
Akshay Kumar's 'Gold' to release on Independence Day
'Talaash' director, Reema Kagti is helming her next, a sports drama 'Gold'. The film tells the story of India's first Olympic medal in hockey, in the backdrop of the Indian Independence movement. Akshay Kumar plays the role of Tapan Das, a young assistant manager during the years 1936-1948. Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, the film is set to release on Independence Day.
Aamir-Amitabh's 'Thugs of Hindostan'
Starring perfectionist Aamir Khan and the ageless Amitabh Bachchan, 'Thugs of Hindostan' is and action-adventure film based on Philip Meadows Taylor's 1839 novel, Confessions of a Thug. It's one of the most expensive films to have ever been made in India, with an estimated total budget of Rs. 210 crore. The cast also includes Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
ShahRukh Khan to play a dwarf in Anand Rai's 'Zero'
ShahRukh Khan will be seen experimenting with a dwarf character in his upcoming film, 'Zero', which is slated to release on December 21. There will also be Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles, alongside SRK. Notably, 'Zero' will also mark the last silver-screen appearance of Sridevi. The legendary actress died shortly after the film was completed.
Rohit Shetty's next outing 'Simmba' to feature Ranveer Singh
Ranveer Singh will be seen in a vibrant and super-zesty role of a policeman who goes by the name of Sangram Bhalerao a.k.a. Simmba. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the film also stars Saif Ali Khan's daughter Sara Ali Khan. 'Simmba' will be the last big Hindi film of the year. It will be released on December 28.
