Horror movie fans like me are rubbing their hands in glee as the genre is going through a healthy revival. 2018 was a great year for horror, be it through commercial successes like The Nun, masterful remakes like Suspiria or independent films like Hereditary. Now with the year almost ending, 2019 promises to terrify us. Here are 2019's 5 most anticipated horror films.

Get Out established Jordan Peele as a thinking director who could effortlessly entwine horror with socially relevant issues like racism. Now, he has teased his next project Us, releasing on March 15. While almost no details are known, it promises to be thought-provoking and will center around a black and white couple. Starring Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, Us promises to be another Peele classic.
James Wan of 'Saw' fame producing a new horror movie
Aquaman director James Wan is a key figure in modern horror, having helped create some of the biggest franchises like Saw, Insidious and The Conjuring. When the Creed's family cat dies, dark forces reveal themselves, and we hope the remake captures King's true horror.

Annabelle marked the beginning of the scary doll spin-off to the Conjuring franchise. Honestly, the spin-off series is doing better than the original. Now, Annabelle 3 is releasing on July 3, helmed by Gary Dauberman in his directorial debut. Notably, Dauberman wrote the script for It and Annabelle. The film will explore how the doll activates other spooky items owned by paranormal investigators.
