We are just days away from the 94th Academy Awards, which is slated to be held on March 28 at its usual venue, that is the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. Who are the performers?
Last week, producers Will Packer and Shayla Cowan announced that Travis Barker, Sheila E., pianist Robert Glasper, and Adam Blackstone will perform at the event, along with DJ D-Nice. A few days later, some more names were added to that list and those were Beyoncé, Sebastián Yatra, Reba McEntire, and Billie Eilish. Beyoncé will be singing Be Alive (King Richard) at the event.

As per the star-studded list shared by Packer and Cowan, the presenters are Josh Brolin, Jacob Elordi, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jason Momoa, Jill Scott, JK Simmons, Serena and Venus Williams, Halle Berry, Jamie Lee Curtis, Zoë Kravitz, Elliot Page, Shaun White, Lupita Nyong'o, Yuh-Jung Youn, Rami Malek, Tyler Perry, and West Side Story star Rachel Zegler, among others.
Directors Jane Campion, Steven Spielberg locking horns again
This year, it's Jane Campion v/s Steven Spielberg again, after 28 years! The directors were competing for the Best Director trophy in 1994 as well. That time, Campion was considered for El Piano, and Spielberg was nominated for Schindler's List. This year, the directors are locking horns yet again for their films The Power of the Dog (Campion) and West Side Story (Spielberg).
Some nominations are significant this year
Campion is the first woman to get Best Director nominations twice, while The Power of the Dog is the first woman-directorial to get over 10 Oscar nods. Meanwhile, Drive My Car is the first Japanese film to get a Best Picture nomination, while Flee is the first to get simultaneous nods in Best Animated Feature Film, International Feature Film, and Documentary Feature categories.
New feature introduced: Oscars Fan Favorite
Organizers have introduced a feature called Oscars Fan Favorite, keeping in line with this year's theme, Movie Lovers Unite. In this contest, Twitter users voted for their favorite film of the year and favorite movie moment. The contest had begun on February 14, this year and ended on March 3. Blockbusters like Spider-Man: No Way Home and Zack Snyder's Justice League are in contention.
