Has acted in 20-25 commercials as a child actor
"Not many know this," is how Hashmi puts his stint as a child actor and he is so right! In an interview with Komal Nahta in 2006 while promoting Gangster, the actor had shared that when he was a little kid, he had done some 20 to 25 commercials. "I stopped doing those when I reached class 7 or 8," he added.
This is how he prepares for his kissing scenes
Hashmi is considered the "pioneer" of kissing scenes in Bollywood, which is, honestly, is just not true. Kissing has been featured in numerous Hindi films over the years, and by this, we don't mean showing two flowers or a flock of birds quickly flying away in glee. Anyway, to prepare for his kissing sequences, Hashmi swears by mint and always keeps them within reach.
Was never keen on acting
Paying heed to his uncle Mahesh Bhatt's suggestion, (then a confused) Hashmi tried out the various branches of their production house, Vishesh Films, like assisting a director and editing. Eventually, he became an actor, a stellar one at that, but did you know, he was more keen on doing VFX for films? But, unfortunately for him, VFX is something Bollywood is still to master.
One of the first Bollywood actors to do music videos
A mainstream actor doing a music video was unheard of a decade back, but Hashmi has always walked the unconventional path. He appeared in Main Rahoon Ya Na Rahoon in 2015 along with his Jannat 2 co-star Esha Gupta. Sung by Armaan Malik and composed by Amaal Mallik, the track and its video became blockbusters and their success was ably aided by Hashmi's performance.
Has never won an award
Ever after acting in 43 films and one web series, Hashmi's cupboard is bereft of a trophy. And, is this because he doesn't attend the award shows? Because, he feels these events are "great for TRPs, but merit is questionable...You have people dancing and they get awards."
