Weekend watchlist: 5 films to watch on the OTT space
The weekend is near! This is when we make a list of movies we want to watch over the two days. This week, the OTT platforms are mostly streaming those that have seen theatrical outings, but there are also some direct-to-OTT releases. So, without wasting much of your time, here's a list of top five movies that you can watch on OTT this weekend.
'Radhe Shyam'
Starring Prabhas and Pooja Hegde, Radhe Shyam is set to hit Amazon Prime Video on April 1, just three weeks after its theatrical outing. Directed by Radha Krishna Kumar, the romantic drama will be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam on Prime. At the box office, the film's collection stood at (roughly) Rs. 214cr, meaning Radhe Shyam is a huge failure commercially.
'Hey Sinamika'
Tamil romantic drama Hey Sinamika sits on the second place. Starring Dulquer Salmaan, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Kajal Aggarwal, the film hit Netflix and JioCinema on March 31 (Thursday). The romantic drama will release in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. Directed by ace choreographer Brindha Master, Hey Sinamika released in the cinema halls on March 3 and was declared a flop.
'Bheeshma Parvam'
Bheeshma Parvam, starring Mammootty, occupies the third spot. The Malayalam gangster flick is set for an OTT clash with Radhe Shyam, as it is slated to hit Disney+ Hotstar on April 1. Also starring Anasuya Bharadwaj, Tabu, Shine Tom Chacko, Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, and Farhaan Faasil, the film had hit the big screens on March 3. It turned out to be a hit.
'Sharmaji Namkeen'
Late actor Rishi Kapoor's swansong Sharmaji Namkeen is now available on Amazon Prime Video. As Kapoor fell sick and subsequently died before completing his part, veteran actor Paresh Rawal stepped in to finish the production. Directed by debutant Hitesh Bhatia, it has been produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani via Excel Entertainment in association with Honey Trehan and Abhishek Chaubey of MacGuffin Pictures.
'Tenet'
Christopher Nolan's latest film Tenet is now on Netflix. Those who couldn't watch it in the theaters and didn't have Amazon Prime Video will finally be able to catch the sci-fi spectacle. Tenet hit theaters on December 4, 2020, and emerged as the fifth highest grosser of 2020. The Oscar winning film stars John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, and Dimple Kapadia.
