5 films that may change release dates because of 'Pathaan'
Taking all of his fans by surprise, Shah Rukh Khan announced the release date for his upcoming espionage thriller Pathaan on Wednesday. Now, the Siddharth Anand-directorial co-starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham will be hitting the big screens on January 25, 2023. Given it is SRK's comeback after four/five years, films releasing near Pathaan might undergo date changes. These 5 might be the candidates.
Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone's 'Fighter'
The film with the biggest chance to get its release date advanced/postponed is Fighter. Also directed by Siddharth Anand, "India's first aerial action" movie will be headlined by Hrithik Roshan and Padukone. Producer Viacom18 had booked Republic Day, 2023 last August, but clashing with Pathaan will only harm sales for both. Plus, it'll result in two Padukone-led and Anand-directed films competing with each other.
Prabhas-led 'Adipurush'
Another pan-Indian film that stands the risk of losing out on business by releasing around Pathaan launch is Prabhas's mythological offering, Adipurush. The latter's makers booked Sankranti 2023 (January 12 to be exact) release date only on Tuesday. We can expect a Prabhas-starrer to run massively for minimum three/four weeks, so a two-week gap from SRK's flick might not be enough. Let's wait but.
John Abraham's 'Tehran'
Speaking of recent date announcements, only days ago, Abraham revealed his next project would be called Tehran and it will hit the theaters, again, on January 26, 2023. It's touted to be an action thriller, so Maddock Films might push it back, given going up against another actioner will not be fruitful. Moreover, like Fighter, this one is headlined by another Pathaan actor, Abraham.
Ram Charan and Kiara Advani's 'RC15'
Ram Charan will greet viewers across India this March in RRR. For the next year, he has Shankar's RC 15 set for a Sankranti release. Co-starring Kiara Advani, the movie was already expected to change dates because of Adipurush. Now, it is even more likely to do so. Last month, makers revealed the film was being shot in Andhra Pradesh.
Shraddha Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor's untitled romantic comedy
Lastly, we have a film that has already undergone a date change, thereby avoiding a head-on clash with Khan's action thriller. And, it's none other than Ranbir Kapoor-Shraddha Kapoor's maiden collaboration in Luv Ranjan's untitled romantic comedy. Although production firm Luv Films had booked January 26, 2023 date last November, now reports suggest it'll come out on March 8, 2023 (on Holi).
