5 DCEU films that are getting released in coming months
When it comes to superhero films, Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and DC Extended Universe (DCEU) are official rivals. While MCU has released many films recently as part of its Phase Four, The Suicide Squad was the only offering from DCEU last year. But, 2022/2023 looks promising for the latter. Let us see which top five DCEU films are getting released in the upcoming months.
'Black Adam'
Black Adam tops the list. Led by Dwayne Johnson in the titular role, the superhero flick also stars Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate. Jaume Collet-Serra is at the helm of the project. It is slated to hit the cinema halls on October 21, 2022. This is Johnson's first DCEU flick.
'Shazam! Fury of the Gods'
Shazam! Fury of the Gods is poised to release on December 16, 2022. The sequel to the 2019 Hollywood superhero film Shazam! completes the slate for DCEU for 2022 since Batgirl is yet to get any confirmed date. Shazam! Fury of the Gods stars English actor Helen Mirren in the role of villain Hespera, the daughter of Atlas, while Zachary Levi returns as Shazam.
'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom'
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom occupies the third place. The James Wan-directed sequel to Aquaman (2018) has Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry or Aquaman, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Temuera Morrison, and Nicole Kidman in the cast. The movie will hit the cinema halls on March 17, 2023, the first release for DCEU next year.
'The Flash'
On the fourth place we have The Flash. Directed by Andy Muschietti, the superhero film stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen or The Flash, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne or Batman, Kiersey Clemons, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Sasha Calle as Supergirl, and Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne or Batman. It is slated to premiere on June 23, 2023.
'Blue Beetle'
Blue Beetle rounds up this list. In 2018, DCEU announced its plans to develop a Blue Beetle superhero movie. Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer was signed to write the story/screenplay and Angel Manuel Soto is aboard as its director. Cobra Kai star Xolo Maridueña will play the titular role, while George Lopez and Adriana Barraza are the other cast members. It releases on August 18, 2023.
