5 celebrities whom BMC had sent notices in the past
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has always kept a close eye on the properties owned by famous personalities, and rightly so. It recently served a legal notice to Priyanka Chopra for carrying out unauthorized construction in her office premises. Other than PeeCee, several other celebrities have been at the receiving end of BMC's ire in the past. Here's a list of five of them.
BMC did not spare King Khan
The civic body had targeted Shah Rukh Khan over illegal construction in the premises of both his bungalow and office. Back in 2015, the BMC sent a notice to the superstar asking him to remove the concrete ramp built on the road adjacent to Mannat. Last year, it demolished an illegal canteen at SRK's production house, Red Chillies Entertainment, at Malad.
Kapil v/s BMC went on for a while
In November 2014, BMC's assistant engineer from Building and Factory department issued a notice to Kapil Sharma stating that he had carried out illegal constructions in his Goregaon residence. Kapil, in his reply, dubbed the claims made by corporation officer as false. The civic body, however, refused to accept the actor's clarification. The actor-comedian then took the matter to court.
The 'Hichki' actor too faced BMC's wrath
Rani Mukerji, last year, had to deal with a BMC notice over allegations of illegal construction around her Juhu bungalow, Krishna Ram. While the actor's spokesperson refuted reports of any violation, a BMC official stated that they received complaints regarding illegal alterations at her house by some activists and were not allowed to inspect the premises when they paid a visit.
BMC found Irrfan violating the rules as well
Irrfan Khan, who lives in the same Goregaon building as Kapil, was also served a notice for flouting construction rules. The BMC, in its report, stated that it resorted to investigation after receiving many complaints of unauthorized changes and found several violations at Irrfan's flat. DLH Enclave, the building where the two celebrities reside, had been in the news for all the wrong reasons.
The veteran actor was also on BMC's list
The BMC had sent multiple notices to Shatrughan Sinha over unauthorized modifications at his residence Ramayan in Juhu. The actor-turned-parliamentarian had revamped his bungalow to construct an eight-storey building. The civic body eventually demolished the illegal extensions in the building owned by the BJP MP in January this year.
