A fan stalking a celebrity is a common occurrence. However, some fans often cross the line leaving the concerned celebrity troubled. This is what happened with renowned producer and director Ekta Kapoor. According to media reports, a 32-year-old cab driver Sudhir Rajendra Singh was arrested in Mumbai for allegedly stalking the television czarina around 30 times in the past month. Here are the details.
Sudhir wanted to befriend Ekta to get a job
Reportedly, Sudhir, who is a resident of Haryana, was working with a cab aggregator in Mumbai. He wanted to work in Ekta's firm and tried meeting her several times in the past month for a job. Although Ekta tried ignoring him, Sudhir was adamant to get her attention. In fact, he even followed her to Juhu temple, after which Ekta filed a complaint.
Accused also tried to sneak into Ekta's gym
The media reports further suggested that Sudhir was often spotted outside the gym where Ekta works out and every time she went there, he would follow her. On Saturday, Sudhir tried sneaking into the gym when Ekta entered. However, he was caught by the guards and was stopped. Following the incident, Ekta's firm filed an FIR against him at Amboli police station.
Stalker followed Ekta across the city despite repeated warnings
In her report, Ekta mentioned that the stalker followed her across the city despite repeated warnings. "We received a complaint saying Kapoor had repeatedly tried to ignore the man, but he kept following her across the city," said a police officer. He tried approaching Ekta at Juhu Temple, he followed her to her gym in Andheri, and even got himself enrolled there.
Police filed FIR against Sudhir and arrested him
Based on Ekta's report, the police filed an FIR against Sudhir under Section 354 (D) of IPC and he was arrested on March 18. "We used technical surveillance to track him down to Veera Desai Road. During interrogation, we found out the number of times he had followed her. We need to find out how he got information about Kapoor's whereabouts," the official added.
