3 killed in accident on Kamal Haasan's 'Indian 2' sets
In a tragic incident, 3 people were killed and many others were injured after a crane collapsed on the sets of Kamal Haasan's upcoming movie Indian 2. According to reports, the director of the movie, Shankar, and about 10 crew members sustained injuries, and are currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital. The accident took place at 9:30 pm on Wednesday
Reportedly, the horrific accident took place around 9:30 pm on Wednesday at the EVP Film City near Chennai. According to an NDTV report, the three men were in a box-like structure on top of the crane when it crashed. They were apparently working on the lighting arrangement for the shoot. The star of the movie, Haasan was at another location inside the same complex.
Lyca productions issued an official statement on Twitter
According to an official statement issued by Lyca Productions, the movie's production company, those who died in the accident are Krishna, who worked as an assistant director, Chandran (art assistant), and Madhu (production assistant). "No words could ease what we truly feel...Our deepest condolences to their family members, may their soul rest in peace," the production company wrote on Twitter.

Haasan also expressed grief over the incident
Haasan also took to Twitter to express grief over the incident. The veteran actor wrote, "Today's accident is the most horrific." "More than my pain, the grief of the family who lost them will be manifold. I take part in their misery as one of them. My deepest sympathies to them." In another tweet, Haasan said that due first-aid was provided to those injured.

Meanwhile, FIR has been filed against the crane operator
Meanwhile, a police complaint has been lodged against the operator of the crane, who escaped the spot after the incident. The police have launched a hunt for him. A sequel to Shankar's own 1996 action-thriller movie Indian, Indian 2 also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Nedumudi Venu, Rakul Preet Singh, among others. The movie is scheduled for a release in summer, this year.
