Good news! Rajkumar Hirani begins work on '3 Idiots' sequel
To make a film that can cater to a pan India audience is not something that every filmmaker can pull off. That is why Rajkumar Hirani is often called a magician. All his directorial ventures have been unanimously loved by the audience. But, '3 Idiots' certainly holds a special place in our hearts and Hirani will soon be bringing us a sequel.
The sequel does not have a title as of now
The development was shared by trade analyst Ramesh Bala on Twitter. "Dir @RajkumarHirani has started working (initial stages) on a #3Idiots sequel," he wrote. The first question that strikes one's mind after reading this is whether the original cast of Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and R. Madhavan will be retained or not. However, that is yet to be finalized.
'3 Idiots' inaugurated the Rs. 200 crore club
Notably, '3 Idiots' was the first Bollywood film to enter the Rs. 200 crore club. It remained the highest-grossing Hindi film for four years with a lifetime total of Rs. 202 crore. It was in 2013 that Shah Rukh Khan's 'Chennai Express' topped its collections.
Meanwhile, Hirani is busy with 'Sanju' promotions
Hirani's latest directorial venture, 'Sanju', with Ranbir Kapoor in the lead, will be hitting the screens on June 29. The director is currently immersed in its promotional activities. Post 'Sanju', Hirani will commence the third installment of the 'Munna Bhai' series and then he will move on to the '3 Idiots' sequel.
