What happened at the Indian box office this Friday?
This Friday saw the release of Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor starrer '102 Not Out' and Rajkummar Rao's 'Omerta'. While '102 Not Out' opened at Rs. 3.53 crore, 'Omerta' could only rake in Rs. 54 lakh. 'Avengers: Infinity War' continued to dominate the box office on its second Friday as well, earning Rs. 7.17 crore.
A positive start for Big B-Rishi's film
'102 Not Out' received a thumbs up from critics, audience
Touted as an unusual father-son love story, '102 Not Out' has impressed the critics and the audience alike. Amitabh and Rishi's reunion after 26 long years seem to be working well for the film. Based on playwright Saumya Joshi's Gujarati play of the same name, '102 Not Out' has been directed by Umesh Shukla.
'Omerta' became one of the lowest openers of 2018
Rajkummar's film headed for a disastrous total
Expectations were high from the fourth collaboration of Rajkummar and director Hansal Mehta. However, 'Omerta' did not only garner poor reviews but also failed to put up a respectable total on Friday. As Taran Adarsh mentioned, the film needs miraculous growth over the weekend to survive at the box office.
'Avengers: Infinity War' snubbed both the new releases
Marvel's film is racing towards the Rs. 200 crore mark
'Avengers: Infinity War' has been storming the Indian box office from day one. It took the biggest opening of 2018 surpassing Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani's 'Baaghi 2'. So far, the film has raked in Rs. 163.81 crore and is expected to join the coveted Rs. 200 crore club by the end of its second week.
