Delhi-Panipat women-special train to be started again, commuters relieved
In a development that is set to make women commuters relieved, the women-only special train between Delhi and Panipat would be restarted in a few days' time. The special train was discontinued due to some difficulties two months ago. Several women commuters had also held protest at Sonepat station yesterday morning. However, now the women traveling on this route will surely be elated.
Haryana minister had urged Piyush Goyal for alternative route
Haryana WCD Minister Kavita Jain said yesterday that since a large number of women travel on this 90-km route daily, she had suggested Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal to start an alternative route, Delhi-Sonipat, until technical issues on Delhi-Panipat route get resolved. She added that the DRM (Railway) AK Singh has assured her that the train services will be restored within 4 days.
Scores of women staged protest yesterday morning, blockade for 40-mins
Scores of women staged a protest yesterday morning at Sonipat station demanding recommencement of the Delhi-Panipat women-special train, which was discontinued two months ago. They held the blockade for 40 minutes, during which a number of trains on the busy route of Delhi-Ambala were affected. They lifted it only after Jain guaranteed them that their demands would be taken up on priority basis.
