Woman jumps on Metro track to pick up Rs. 2,000
In a spine-chilling incident, a woman came under a Delhi Metro train, but surprisingly escaped unhurt. She took the jump to pick up her Rs. 2,000 note that had fallen on the tracks. The incident happened at the Dwarka Mor Metro station on Tuesday around 10:30AM. The event hindered the functioning of the Blue Line of the Metro services for some time. Here's more.
Woman's 'brave' act disrupted Blue line services for some time
The woman, identified as Chetna Sharma, accidentally dropped her money on the tracks and jumped to fetch it, and just then a train was entering the station. A few coaches moved over her, but since she remained still in between the tracks, she escaped death and only suffered minor injuries. This created a disturbance on the Blue line, connecting Dwarka Sector 21-Noida City Center.
She wedged between the tracks to save herself, says official
"When she looked at the Metro train approaching her, she lay wedged between the tracks to save herself. As the public raised alarm, the driver stopped the train and the shift in-charge of the CISF and station controller rushed to the spot," said a senior CISF officer. The Jharoda Kalan resident was briefly detained and was let go after she gave a written apology.
Last May youth seen crossing tracks despite a train approaching
This is not the first time that Delhi Metro has witnessed such a bizarre case. Last May, 21-year-old Mayur Patel, who was boarding from Shastri Nagar Metro station on Red Line, decided to cross the tracks as the train was leaving the station, and he did not want to miss it. The driver acted promptly and applied the brakes, thus saving Patel from death.
