Jat agitation reaches Delhi
Hundreds of Jat community members gathered at Najafgarh in southwest Delhi and staged a peaceful protest. The agitation born in Haryana has already reached other places of Delhi, including Narela and Mahipalpur. Protests are planned at Mundka, Bawana, Dwarka, Rohini, and Burari throughout the month. Doctors call off strike after AIIMS revokes colleagues' suspension
Striking doctors have returned to work after AIIMS revoked the suspension of five of their colleagues over the death of a nurse during delivery. The Nurses' Union, in a strong response, has threatened protests. A preliminary report has ruled out "intentional gross medical negligence" on the part of the five doctors. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) too extended support to them.
Bars at DLF CyberHub might stop services from April 1
34 bars at Gurugram's DLF CyberHub may have to shut down after an SC order banning sale of liquor within 500 metres of highways. Some in Sector 29 and on Sohna Road will also be affected. Citizens lack free medicines despite AAP's assurances
Delhiites have complained to CM Arvind Kejriwal after failing to procure free medicines at government hospitals. Long queues often force citizens to shelve out money, either to private chemists or to touts. Kejriwal, who promised free medicines at all costs starting February 1, has sought immediate resolution. Delhi has listed 1,390 medicines as 'essential items', as opposed to the national list consisting 376 medicines.
Alleged cattle smugglers trespass into NSG premises in Manesar
Four alleged cattle smugglers, on the run from police and a group of 'gau rakshaks', entered a high-security National Security Guard (NSG) campus in Manesar. They opened fire as they ran into a patrol team, who instantly fired back. But they managed to escape by jumping over the boundary wall. Police said they have been identified the culprits and a hunt is on.
Explosives recovered again from Red Fort
More explosives were found inside the Red Fort complex, two days after live rounds were recovered by the ASI from a well during a clean-up drive. Two grenades, two mortar bombs, detonators, fuse and more were recovered from the well during a search operation supervised by the NSG. All articles have been destroyed. The NSG has recommended sealing of the well.
Massive seat cuts for MPhil, PhD at JNU
JNU's School of Social Sciences had reduced a whopping 232 seats out of 330, while the School of International Studies cut 141 out of 232, and the School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies 73 out of 227. This comes after continuous protests by students' unions against the move. JNU registrar Pramod Kumar said the decision is in line with UGC guidelines.
Education Department officials face Sisodia's ire after 'misrepresentation' of facts
A director-level official of the Education Department has been suspended after allegedly misrepresenting facts about Mirambika Free Progress School in a court affidavit. Deputy CM Manish Sisodia has ordered an inquiry against other officials involved in filing the affidavit, and asked for a fresh one to be submitted. Some parents took the school to court for shifting students to Sri Aurobindo Ashram.
