The roof and wall of an establishment above Jain Book Depot in Connaught Place collapsed at night on February 3. It was a close shave for a security guard and a few workers, who had reportedly moved away from the spot a few minutes earlier. The owner had reportedly sought permission from NDMC for repairs. Girl raped, sold off after catching wrong train to Delhi
A Chhattisgarh girl boarded the wrong train in October 2016 and reached Delhi, where she was allegedly raped by a hawker. She was sold off to a man who took her to Faridabad. After she escaped to Delhi, she ran into her seller. She was then kept in a godown near Nizamuddin, where she was gangraped several times. She has finally been rescued.
Admissions open for UG, PG, diploma courses in Jamia
Jamia Millia Islamia has opened admissions into 180 undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma courses, including six new ones. The deadline is March 3. All information has been consolidated onto a new portal under the Controller of Examinations. Information on MPhil and PhD courses will be uploaded later. The entrance exams will be conducted from April till June. Intake for colleges will be limited to 6,400.
Gurugram-Manesar metro project finally on tracks
The Haryana government gave its nod for a Mass Rapid Transport System (MRTS) between Gurugram and Manesar. In the first phase likely to be launched in March, an elevated corridor will move from Huda City Centre to Panchgaon Chowk near Manesar. Later it would proceed to Bawal and possibly to Neemrana in Rajasthan. A Japanese agency has promised Rs 16,000 crore for the project.
Noida firm dupes 6.3 lakh customers of Rs 3,700 crore
Three officials of firm '3W' of Noida Sector 63 were arrested for allegedly duping 6.3 lakh people of about Rs 3,726 crore since 2015. The company kept changing its name and scheme to evade suspicion. It would promise regular returns after investment, but would stop paying customers after a few instalments. Rs 524 crore and data of its 9 lakh customers has been seized.

MCG stakes claim to land allotted to individuals
The MCG has said that 464 acres of land in Gwalpahari, that was allotted to individuals by former DC TL Satyaprakash, belongs to it. The MCG has obtained a stay on Satyaprakash's order. The body has been sending notices to individuals to vacate it, and has promised action to protect the land. According to MCG's own survey, 18% of its land is encroached upon.
