Delhi's water crisis: May face major shortage this summer
According to Delhi's Deputy CM, Manish Sisodia, water supply from Haryana to Delhi has been reduced. Officials from Delhi Jal Board say disruptions in water supply could lead to major water shortage in Delhi. Sisodia on Monday night tweeted that he has asked the Delhi Chief Secretary to co-ordinate with his Haryana counterpart and ensure full water supply. Read along for more from Delhi.
Delhi HC- Marital rape a serious issue in culture
On Monday, the Delhi High Court stated that marital rape in India is a "serious issue" that has become a notorious part of our culture. The High Court's statement came while hearing a PIL filed by NGO RIT Foundation, which challenged Section 375 of the IPC, which doesn't consider the possibility of rape in sexual intercourse between a married couple.
Delhi witnesses hot morning, minimum temperature 29 degrees Celsius
The national capital witnessed yet another hot morning today with the minimum temperature at 29 degrees Celsius, three degrees above this season's average. Partly cloudy skies with thunder, however, have been predicted in some parts of the city for later today. The maximum temperature in the city today is expected to hover around 43 degrees Celsius.
MCG begins process to take over 9 private colonies
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) from Tuesday began the process of taking over private colonies. The MCG called for a meeting between developers and representatives of the Residents' Welfare Associations (RWAs) to discuss the procedure of the transfer. Representatives of DLF Phase 1 to 2, Sushant Lok 1 and 2, South City 1 and 2, Ardee City and Suncity will attend the meeting.
Parents want to be part of committee probing fee hikes
The All Noida School Parents Association (ANSPA) has questioned the inclusion of certain members in the state-level committee formed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for deliberating fee hike by schools. General Secretary of ANSPA, K. Arunachalam said parents demand equal representation in the 9-member-committee as the issue affects them. The committee will also suggest ways to curb commercialization of education in the state.
YEIDA seeks legal action against developer
On 15th May, the Yamuna Expressway industrial development authority (YEIDA) wrote to senior police and administration officials, seeking legal action against a developer for selling plots along the expressway illegally by attracting buyers with fake advertisements. The accused, developer 'Yamuna Expressway Avasiya Bhukhand' illegally launched a plot and flat scheme on agricultural land in the Tappal area of Aligarh district, along the Yamuna Expressway.
