Solar Summit, Odisha Parba to choke Delhi roads this weekend
As dignitaries arrive in Delhi for the Founding Conference of the International Solar Alliance (March 11), residents should expect heavy traffic congestion starting today till March 12. The Odisha Parba too is scheduled during March 9-11. Since dignitaries will stay at hotels near the airport, those intending to go that way should leave well in advance as that area will face major traffic restriction.
Airport-bound people, board examinees must plan accordingly: Traffic police
The Delhi Traffic Police has said that apart from airport-bound people, students appearing for board exams must plan accordingly. "A large gathering is expected at India Gate memorial between Friday and Sunday and it could result in heavy congestion," said Dependra Pathak, the Delhi Traffic Police chief. Traffic restrictions will continue till a day after both events end on Sunday.

40 routes in Central Delhi will be affected
"40 routes in central Delhi that will be affected include the India Gate C-Hexagon, Shanti Path, Teen Murti Marg, Akbar Road, Sardar Patel Marg, Janpath and Ashoka Road," said Garima Bhatnagar, joint commissioner of police (traffic). RTR flyover to Dhaula Kuan, Thimayya Marg and Parade Road will be earmarked for dignitaries' movement on Friday and Monday, as they arrive and depart.
Restriction not to last longer than five minutes, say cops
Traffic would not be restricted for more than five minutes and will depend on when the VVIPs arrive, cops said. However, commuters have been advised to avoid Satya Marg, Shanti Path, R/A Teen Murti, Akbar Road, Krishna Menon Road, Vijay Chowk, Sardar Patel Marg, Panchsheel Marg, Safdarjung Road, Janpath, Ashoka Road, Barakhamba Road, Tilak Marg and KG Marg, among others.
Emmanuel Macron among several international VIPs to attend this summit
Apart from French President Emmanuel Macron, VVIPs would come from various countries including Australia, UAE, Niger, Gabon, Seychelles, Ghana, Rwanda, Fiji, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to attend the summit that will be organized at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Convention Centre.
