Delhi: TikTok celebrity, having 5L followers, shot dead
In a shocking incident which casts doubts on safety on Delhi's streets, a 27-year-old youth was gunned down by unknown assailants on Tuesday evening. The deceased, identified as Mohit Mor, was a gym trainer and extremely popular on social media. He had over 5 lakh followers on TikTok and used to regularly upload videos. Notably, the gunmen fled from the spot after killing him.
Mohit was talking with his friends when gunmen murdered him
The incident happened around 5 PM when Mohit had gone to a photocopy shop to meet his friend. While he was chatting with his friend, three bike-borne men barged into the shop and fired 13 bullets on him. Mohit was rushed to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead. He suffered seven bullet injuries, a senior police officer said.
Accused came on Scooty, were caught on CCTV
Reportedly, the accused came on a Scooty and one of them wore a black helmet. "They were seen in a CCTV footage running away from the busy narrow street after the crime," police said. A case was registered under relevant sections of IPC. Mohit's body was handed over to his family after autopsy. He belonged to Haryana's Bahadurgarh but stayed in Najafgarh.
Police are going through Mohit's social media accounts
"We are checking his TikTok and Instagram accounts comments and Call Details Record (CDR) to establish his enmity with anyone on social media that may help us to crack case. Prima facie, it appears a case of personal enmity and a money dispute," police said.
Mohit's friend said his popularity may have led to murder
Mohit's friend told police that his popularity on TikTok could have led to the murder. The friend added that Mohit regularly made videos mocking his rivals. Police have ruled out the possibility of a gang rivalry and are seeing the murder as a case of personal enmity. Mohit touched upon the topics of communal harmony and good samaritanism in his videos.
