Delhi: Cops who shot thief, donate blood to save him
A Delhi police team stopped a suspected burglar by shooting at him in Rohini on Wednesday night. They later rushed the bleeding man to the hospital and donated blood to save his life. Tiles used to make helipad for PM's chopper stolen
In a strange development, more than 2 lakh paver tiles worth Rs. 15 lakh, used to build the helipad for Prime Minister Modi's visit to Gurugram on 1st November, 2016 have been stolen. After serving their purpose for the helipad, the tiles were meant to be in the possession of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG).
300 parents protest outside Ghaziabad DM's office
Over 300 parents staged a protest outside the District Magistrate (DM)'s office on Wednesday. They were protesting against fee hikes in private schools, their annual charges and the regularization of NCERT textbooks. The protesters were parents of children from over 25 schools and accused the Ghaziabad administration of being tied with the school authorities.
Delhi Metro may increase minimum fare to Rs. 10
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Board is expected to hold a meeting on Thursday to discuss fare hike. A panel appointed by the Urban Development Ministry has recommended an increase in the minimum fare from Rs. 8 to Rs. 10 and the maximum fare from Rs. 30 to Rs. 50. Sources said, fare hikes were un-favoured by the Government and Centre pre-municipal polls.
NOTA wins 0.68% share in municipal polls
The None of The Above (NOTA) option was made available in the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections for the first time this year. Of the total votes, 49,235 or 0.68% were given to NOTA. According to State Election Commissioner S.K Srivastava, NOTA was a good addition as people unhappy with candidate representation still got a chance to register their votes.
Delhiites relieved from heat due to morning showers
Delhi-NCR on Thursday morning witnessed showers followed by strong winds, providing residents with a much needed break from the city's heat. The temperature was brought down by 10 degrees Celsius because of the same. On Wednesday, overnight rains in parts of Delhi reduced mercury to levels which are normal for this time of the year.
