To protest sealing drive, South Delhi market to remain shut
Local shopping complexes across South Delhi area will remain shut on Friday, in order to protest against the sealing drive conducted by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) at Defence Colony as per directions of the Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee. The markets that will remain closed include- Defence Colony, Hauz Khas, Green Park Extension, South Extension I and II, Greater Kailash I and II.
It will be a silent protest: Traders
According to the traders, they will protest silently against the sealing drive without any kind of demonstration. GK-I M-Block market traders' association head Rajender Sharda said, "All market associations met under the umbrella of Federation of LSC and decided to down shutters on Friday. This is our protest against the atmosphere of fear and uncertainty created due to random sealing drives."
The protest will focus on three points: Traders Association
A member of the South Extension Part I Traders' Association, Vijay Kumar said that their protest will focus mainly on three points. Firstly, to stop the sealing drive until June 30. Secondly, to increase the floor area ratio (FAR) up to 300. Thirdly, to de-seal the basement establishments targeted even after paying for the additional FAR and conversion charges.
