Allegedly sexually harassed by teachers, Noida teen hangs self
In a shameful incident, a class 9 student committed suicide on Tuesday evening at her Noida home after she failed in two subjects, an allegedly intentional act by her teachers who harassed her sexually. The 15-year-old studied in Ahlcon School, Mayur Vihar, and had complained to her father a month ago about being harassed by her social science and science teachers.
Doctors declared her 'brought dead'
Ikisha Shah was found hanging from a fan by her parents after 6 PM and was rushed to Kailash Hospital in Noida's Sector 27. The doctors tried to revive her but her pulse and blood pressure could not be recorded. The teachers Rajiv Sehgal and Neeraj Anand and the Principal Dharmendra Goyal have been booked under POCSO Act and IPC Sections 306 and 506.
Father ignored what Ikisha said because he respects teachers
Her father, Raghav Shah, said that he ignored when Ikisha shared her ordeal with him out of sheer reverence for teachers. "She said she is scared of them because no matter how well she writes, they'll fail her," said her father. And they allegedly did. When her results were declared on March 16, she found out she had flunked in only those two subjects.
School principal denied allegations, says did not know of incident
Goyal meanwhile denied the allegation and said he was not informed about it. A senior cop said that a constable was suspended 'for dereliction of duty as he failed to include sections of sexual harassment in the FIR despite the complaint by the deceased girl's family." Cops said no one has been arrested yet but they will visit the school soon to start investigation.
