Delhi: 23-year-old shot dead while clicking selfie with pistol
Posing with a pistol for a selfie has become a recent trend and a dangerous one. A 23-year-old lost his life yesterday when he was accidentally shot by his cousin, both of them holding a loaded pistol while clicking selfies. The photo session had started soon after the deceased visited his aunt's place in southeast Delhi's Sarita Vihar in the evening.
'The pistol belongs to boy's father who is a property-dealer'
The victim, Prashant Chauhan, a contractual teacher in a Shahdara-based government school, and his 17-year-old cousin posed with the pistol when the latter accidentally fired it, killing Chauhan. "The pistol belongs to the teenager's father who's a property dealer. We will take appropriate action against him for allowing his minor son to use a loaded licensed pistol," said Chinmoy Biswal, DCP (southeast).
Victim was declared brought dead; teen apprehended
Right after the incident, Chauhan was rushed to the nearby Apollo hospital where he was announced brought dead. Cops reached the hospital after getting information of a gunshot injury around 6.30 PM and took the body for autopsy and investigation. The 17-year-old who studies in a reputed private school was apprehended and relevant sections of IPC were charged against him, police said.
