Russia-bound aircraft develops technical snag, makes emergency landing at Delhi
A Russia-bound aircraft, ABG 8772, made an emergency landing at Terminal-3 of Indira Gandhi International airport in Delhi today evening, after it developed an engine failure. There were 344 passengers aboard, and all are safe. The non-scheduled landing was assisted by fire and emergency services, which were rushed to the spot just as part of SOP. "There was no fire or smoke," said officials.
Pilot noticed engine failure mid-air, landing non-scheduled
The flight was headed to Yekaterinburg (Russia) from Phu Quoc (Vietnam). The pilots noticed the problem mid-air and requested the Delhi ATC for an emergency landing. "We received information from the CISF control room at 5:22pm about the emergency landing of flight ABG 8772. The non-scheduled flight landed safely at around 6:05 pm with 344 passengers," confirmed Sanjay Bhatia, DCP (IGI) airport.
