Delhi: Cop's frustrated wife writes to Delhi's Police Commissioner
A Delhi policeman's wife, annoyed with her husband's "long" duty hours, has sent an email to Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik asking him to ensure duty in shifts. She said her husband, posted at Rashtrapati Bhavan, can't take care of the family. She claimed long duty hours could cause depression, adding the police would be responsible if her husband commits suicide. Know more!
Email sent to CP Patnaik's official mail
The sender didn't mention the officer's name or rank; she only claimed her husband is posted at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Around 700 policemen are deployed in the security unit at Rashtrapati Bhavan, including four ACPs, one DCP, and one Joint CP. The email was reportedly forwarded to Rashtrapati Bhavan's Joint CP and DCP to verify the sender's claims and do the needful.

The sender claims her husband works for 12 hours a day, standing. She says the policemen should instead have six-hour shifts so that they can give time to their family. She added her husband may commit suicide out of stress and the police department would be responsible for it. Verified data shows 43 Delhi Police personnel (all men) have committed suicide between Jan'12-Jul'17.
