Pay for feeder bus, parking charges with smart cards: DMRC
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Sunday has announced that the commuters can now use Metro smart cards for paying the fares of feeder buses and parking charges at 13 metro stations. This service was launched as an extension to the Common Mobility Card project, under which commuters can use the same card for both public buses and Delhi Metro.
In the next two months, all stations will be covered
The DMRC stated that the Common Mobility card will encourage commuters to park their vehicles at Metro stations, and the facility will be expanded across all Metro parking lots within two months. Presently, the card can be used at Vishwavidyalaya, Saket, Karkarduma, Dilshad Garden, Akshardham, Patel Chowk, Kashmere Gate, Rohini Sector (18,19), Shastri Park, NHPC Chowk, Mewala Maharajpur, Old Faridabad, and Sector 28 Faridabad.
Delhi Metro currently has more than 200 feeder buses
DMRC has also updated the software of the handheld terminals used in the feeder buses, that reads the information saved in the card. "The software will simplify the ticketing process in the feeder buses and will save time in the ticketing transaction," the DMRC said. Delhi Metro, now, has more than 200 feeder buses with Rs. 5 and Rs. 15 as its fares.
