AIIMS emergency distressed due to shortage of doctors
The emergency wing of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) receives more than 500 patients daily and is short-staffed to handle the same. The number of senior resident doctors are only 11, against 24 required posts and the number of junior resident doctors is only 64 against the required strength of 95. Gold missing from IGI Airport's customs department, 1 held
A superintendent of the customs department at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) was recently arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with theft of gold from the department. Between 9th January-21st February, almost 23 cases of gold were found to be missing and approximately 16,000 gms was found to be replaced with non-precious metal.
Names of defaulting builders will be put up on hoardings
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Noida Authority, Amit Mohan Prasad has decided to name and shame those developers who haven't cleared their land dues in a long time. Names of all financial defaulters will be put up on hoardings along busy roads and traffic interjections, if they do not clear their dues soon. The authority has to recover approximately Rs. 25,000cr in dues.
Delhi HC: Adjoining areas of NCR need development
The Delhi High Court on 24th May said unless areas surrounding the National Capital Region aren't developed, Delhi will never "shine." According to the High Court, rapid, illegal construction has pressurized Delhi's infrastructural resources like water, electricity etc. The court further asked authorities to contemplate the expansion and shifting of some infrastructure from Delhi to decongest the city.
Delhi's Ministers, officials directed to meet residents everyday
On 24th May, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ordered the Chief Secretary of Delhi to instruct all authorities to be available at their desks from 10 am to 11 pm, Monday to Friday, to meet public and hear out grievances. Delhiites don't need prior appointments for the same, they can just walk in to seek help for their problems.
Clean wards, Residents' Welfare Associations to be awarded by MCG
The Municipal Council of Gurugram (MCG) has announced cash rewards for those wards and Residents' Welfare Associations (RWAs) which are cleaner than the rest. This decision was taken in order to encourage clean neighbourhoods and premises. The cleanest ward is set to win a cash prize of Rs. 2 lakh whereas the cleanest RWA will receive Rs. 50,000.
