14-year-old builds soccer team of underprivileged girls
14-year-old Diya Shukla from Gurugram created a platform called 'Playmakers Foundation' in January 2017. Diya has launched a girls' soccer team where the children have been selected from the lesser-privileged backgrounds of DLF Phase-1, Sector 57 and Sushant Lok. Finance Minister Manish Sisodia presents Delhi Budget 2017
FM Manish Sisodia in his Budget speech announced that Delhi's economy took a bad hit due to demonetization. The government will continue to invest largely in education, with the sector receiving 24% of the Budget's expenditure. The budget allocation for Delhi Commission for Women was tripled. Public transport was allotted Rs. 5,506 crore; no new taxes were introduced in the Budget.
Mercedes hit-and-run driver arrested
Driver of the Mercedes hit-and-run-case which led to the demise of a 17-year-old has been arrested by the Delhi Police crime branch. The accused has been identified as Savneet Singh, a businessman who was driving back home at the time of the accident. With the help of technical analysis, the crime branch team led by DCP Madhur Verma traced the accused to his residence.
Afghanistan vs Ireland cricket match starts in Greater Noida stadium
From Wednesday morning, one day international (ODI) and T-20 cricket matches between Afghanistan and Ireland started at the Greater Noida stadium. The Irish team had reached Greater Noida on 5th March; the Afghanistan team reached before them on 28th February. They're set to play three T-20 tournaments and five ODI matches beginning today.
Two doctors arrest for administering illegal abortions
The health department officials of Haryana seized two people for carrying out illegal abortions in a raid at a private clinic in Rajiv Nagar. The accused have been identified as Dr. Vijay Kumar Sharma (owner of the private clinic) and Dr. Sonal Sharma. According to the officials, the raid was conducted based on a tip-off. Rs. 10,000 was also recovered from the doctors.
