Passenger capacity at Delhi Airport may be doubled
On Wednesday, the Centre said it was contemplating a plan that would almost double the passenger-handling capacity of the IGI Airport. Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha said development work at the airport includes the expansion of Terminals 1 and 3 and constructing a new terminal and a runway. Gang stealing SUVs under the pretext of test-drives, busted
Delhi Police busted the gang stealing SUVs and Sedans from Delhi showrooms under the guise of taking them for test drives. According to the police, SUVs were specifically targeted due to their high demand in the Uttar Pradesh elections for campaign use. Two men were arrested and five lavish cars including Fortuner, XUV 500 and a Renault Duster were reclaimed from them.
Kalindi Kunj Metro may be inaugurated in April
The 3.9 kilometre metro link between Delhi's Kalindi Kunj and Noida's Botanical Garden is set to open to public next month. The Noida Authority has requested the Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety (CCRS) to hasten inspections. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) too, is trying every course of action possible to commission the track after the successful completion of trials.
NTPC threatens cutting off supply to BSES over dues
NTPC Ltd, the state-owned power generation company threatened to cut off supplying electricity to Reliance Group-owned BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd and BSES Yamuna Power Ltd. According to NTPC, in the last 10 months, BSES has failed to pay dues worth Rs. 239crore due to which the NTPC faces difficulties for paying fuel suppliers. NTPC is threatening to suspend supplying electricity if dues remain uncleared.
Delhi BJP witnesses substantial increase in applicants for civic polls
According to sources from the Bharatiya Janata Party, the number of applications to contest the Delhi civic polls from a BJP ticket escalated by 240% since Saturday. Party insiders claim this is a result of BJP's "recent feats at the national level." They further added that the decision to all sitting councillors and their family members from the consolidated list boosted the application process.
Case filed for JNU student Muthukrishnan's suicide
The Delhi Police registered a case of abetment to suicide in connection with the suicide of 28-year-old J. Muthukrishnan. According to Muthukrishnan's Facebook posts, he faced discrimination throughout his life. Head of Forensic Department at AIIMS, Dr. Sudhir Gupta stated the cause of death as asphyxia (deficiency in the supply of oxygen to the body); no injury marks were discovered on the body.
Local company's CMD's email hacked, Rs.30 lakh siphoned
Gurugram police has detained a man that allegedly pumped over Rs. 30 lakh from a company by hacking into the e-mail of its chairman-cum-managing director. According to the company officials, the accused (identified as Sameer Khan) sent e-mails to the staff, directing them to transfer large amounts of money. At the time of hacking, the CMD of the company was traveling.
