Smoke coming out of Delhi Metro's AC vent causes panic
Passengers of the Delhi metro's women coach were panic-struck after they saw smoke coming out of AC vent due to a short circuit in the blue line, bringing metro services to a halt. Delhi jeweller's foreign assets worth Rs. 7crore seized by ED
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) made its first ever seizure of foreign assets worth Rs. 7crore in the Panama leaks case from Mehrasons Jewellers. The Panama papers revealed names of those who are alleged to have stashed assets abroad illegally. The investigation revealed that money was sent out of India by misutilizing the Liberalized Remittance Scheme (LRS) of RBI in the name of making investments.
Delhi CM tells mayor to control corruption to end financial crisis
During a meeting on Thursday, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal reportedly told East Delhi corporation mayor Neema Bhagat that EDMC would not run short on funds if it ends corruption. However, Bhagat later claimed that no such allegation was made by Kejriwal during their meeting. Bhagat also said the government owed funds to the corporation since 2012-13; the amount now stands at Rs. 9,845.07 crore.
Haryana's RERA rules imposes tough sanctions, to come into effect from July 1
The final draft rules of the Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (H-RERA), which come into effect from July 1, will be able to address the grievances of homebuyers and empower them to take developers to task for violating agreements between builder and buyer. Until now, the issues were addressed by the government and moving court was the only option.
30-year-old woman loses hands to high voltage power cable
Ghaziabad based Neelam Kumari ended up loosing both her hands when she got electrocuted by 11 kV wire. Kumari was hanging washed clothes to dry in the balcony when she got pulled towards the loose power cable. She was rescued by her husband, Vinay. Vinay has lodged an FIR against the electricity department and a local builder.
Permanent constructions encroach Delhi's Yamuna land
Vishwakarma Colony, that falls in Delhi Development Authority, has been on an expanding trend on an ecologically important Yamuna floodplain where no construction is permitted. The Jaitpur Extension colony is now a concrete extension that has mushroomed up. The other establishments include the Commonwealth Games Village, Akshardham Mandir etc. Experts have warned that Delhi is making itself vulnerable to flooding and endangering the river.
Man kills self at friend's house in Delhi's Dwarka district
23-year-old Arnav Duggal was found hanging at his female friend's house in Dwarka. No suicide note was recovered. According to police, he was in love with the girl and she had turned his proposal. On Monday night, Duggal dropped her home and asked to stay at her place as he was not well enough to drive. He was found hanging by the girl's father.
