Gahlot is also accused of keeping Yadav's phone and erasing data from both his and her phones. According to police, he presumably realized it was important evidence, and erased all of their fight chats. They are also reviewing CCTV footage from all of the sites mentioned by Gahlot in his alleged "confession" to the murder.
Allegations of deceit and fake getaway
The police believe Gahlot was planning to leave Yadav and was deceiving her. He allegedly met Yadav at her apartment and promised a getaway together while pretending to go on a vacation in Goa or another hill station with her. He then drove her to Kashmere Gate in North Delhi in his cousin's car and argued with her for four hours before strangling her.
Police say Gahlot killed Yadav and kept body in dhaba
Before his wedding day (February 10), Gahlot allegedly strangled Yadav using his charging cable following an argument. Police said after killing Yadav, he allegedly drove around 40 kilometers to his dhaba with Yadav's body, left the car at the dhaba with the body in its boot, and after locking the eatery up, went home for his wedding.
Kept the body in dhaba fridge, but was caught
Gahlot allegedly returned to the dhaba many hours later in another car while his family was asleep to deal with the body. Police said that Gahlot intended to throw the body into a river later so he moved the body from the car to the dhaba's refrigerator, but was caught.
Police corroborating Gahlot's alleged confession
"Gahlot said he was in two minds. He gave his version and we got local inquiries also which say he was dancing and having fun during his engagement," NDTV quoted a senior police officer as saying. The officer stated that the police were supporting his account with significant evidence, such as CCTVs and forensic examination, to make this a strong case.
