Delhi: Centre asks PSUs, corporate sector to adopt monuments
World Heritage Sites in India, including Red Fort, Humayun's Tomb, Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri, Ajanta and Ellora Caves, could soon get a major revamp with world-class facilities. Facilities like Wi-Fi, drinking-water, Braille signage, restaurants, state-of-art toilets, etc. could be introduced in such places. The Centre reached out to PSUs and corporates to adopt over 116 ticketed monuments of the Archaeological Survey of India.
Tourism and Culture Secretary Rashmi Saxena's statement
Rashmi Saxena stated: "We have written to some prominent entities and the response has been positive till now. We are also looking forward to putting in place a mechanism for tour guides, and a policy is being drafted at the moment."
