Online registration for Delhi University begins today
The online application procedure for Delhi University will commence today (Monday), 5 pm onwards. This process will help aspiring graduates to apply to 60 undergraduate programmes in 63 of the university's affiliated colleges. Sanitation strike in Noida enters fifth day
Sanitation employees of Noida continued to strike for the fifth day in a row on 21st May and did not clear municipal waste. This led to the piling up of trash in both commercial and residential areas. Their main demands include that all contractual employees, regardless of experience are paid equal wages. The workers are also demanding for permanent jobs.
Homebuyers perform 'hawan', seek divine help for RERA conflict
On 21st May, a group of homebuyers performed a 'hawan' in Gurugram's Sector 29's Leisure Valley Park. The homebuyers held the 'hawan' after weeks of protesting and demanding that the state's rules under the Real Estate Regulation and Development Act (RERA) must align with those drafted by the Centre. They are hoping that the Haryana government will introduce necessary amendments to the draft.
Delhi residents should expect more showers and thunder
Delhi witnessed a pleasant Monday morning on 22nd May, with some parts of the city receiving light showers; the pleasant weather is predicted to continue until Thursday. An official from the Meteorological Department added that the city should expect rains and thunderstorms till Thursday. Today's (Monday) temperature is expected to stay around 39 degrees Celsius.
Heritage Line to be opened up to commuters this week
The Delhi Metro will most probably open the ITO-Kashmere Gate section, also known as Heritage line, for its commuters this week. Central Secretariat-Kashmere Gate corridor's Janpath, Mandi House and ITO stations are already operational. The new heritage corridor will provide connectivity from Delhi's old areas like Darya Ganj, Delhi Gate and Red Fort to Janpath, Delhi's business hub.
Delhi Police busts gang of robbers
A truck carrying 7,600 Karbonn mobile phones worth Rs. 1.07 crore was intercepted by a gang of highway robbers. The truck was intercepted on Ring Road, Burari. The driver was then pushed off the moving vehicle at the Tikri border. Santosh's (the driver) vehicle was blocked by a midi-truck. The robbers overpowered him by saying he had damaged their truck, and must pay damages.
