Delhi Police to use flash mobs for awareness
The Delhi Police would now use flash-mobs in regular intervals to spread the word about their initiatives. During the Police Week, this idea was used to encourage residents to use apps like the senior citizen app, traffic sentinel, etc. A team of children and wives of policemen conducted these gatherings at various spots in the city. Can make Delhi look like London, says Kejriwal
In a speech for the municipal polls likely to be held in April, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal promised to give Delhi's civic management a complete makeover. Kejriwal said he could make Delhi comparable to London within just one year if AAP comes to power. Addressing a public rally at Uttam Nagar, Arvind Kejriwal said that civic bodies have failed to keep Delhi clean.
Liquor to cost 15% extra in Gurugram from 1st April
From 1st April, liquor prices in Gurugram are expected to rise approximately by 15% after a hike in excise duty and Value-added Tax (VAT) was announced by the Haryana government. This would increase prices of country liquor, Indian-made Foreign liquore (IMFL), foreign liquor, and low alcohol-content beverages. After these changes, the government is expected to net Rs.500-700 crore extra.
4 on-duty cops fall prey to hit-and-run accidents
In 3 days, 4 on duty policemen were hurt in hit-and-run cases in northwest and South Delhi. The most recent accident occurred in Mahipalpur, where a head constable suffered multiple injuries in his leg due to a speeding Verna colliding with a barricade. Another hit-and-run case took place in Keshavpuram, injuring one constable. 2 policemen were injured in Jahangirpuri on Friday.
DRI seizes smuggled cigarettes worth Rs.15 crore
The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested 3 people for the possession of foreign brands of cigarettes worth Rs.15 crore. According to Deputy Commissioner of DRI Rohit Dwivedi, the team received a tip-off about a foreign brand of cigarettes being smuggled from Lucknow to Noida. A truck was intercepted and "Gudaang Garam" cigarettes (from Indonesia) were uncovered in high-density polyethylene bags.
17-year-old killed by speeding Mercedes car
A 17-year-old boy lost his life when his two-wheeler was hit by a speeding Mercedes car near Miawali Nagar in West Delhi. According to Police, the incident took place in the early hours of Monday when the Mercedes car lost control and hit the scooter from behind. The youth was flung into the air due to the impact and landed down on his head.
