Delhi: 10-year-old boy missing since Wednesday found dead
The body of a Class 4 student who had gone missing on February 28 was found on Saturday in Delhi's Jaitpur. Police officers say that they received a PCR call at 9.42 AM about the recovery from a canal. The boy's kin has alleged murder, claiming his throat was slit. But police are awaiting autopsy reports to proceed further.
Classmates had spotted an unidentified man approaching Akash, says kin
On Wednesday, parents of the boy, identified as Akash Kumar Jha (10), were late in picking him up. They didn't find him when school ended. His classmates said they had spotted a yet-unidentified man approaching Akash "who told (him) to purchase gutkha from a nearby shop." A search had started soon. On Saturday, someone spotted the boy's decomposed body lying in a canal.
Family members angry at lackadaisical approach of police
Akash used to take different routes to return from his school, cops said, adding that none of the footages gathered till now showed him in any known path. Meanwhile, the family members are angry at the lackadaisical approach of police. "Had I been a rich businessman, the police would have been on their toes to find Akash," the child's father lashed out.
Cops awaiting autopsy report, sexual assault not ruled out
Cops are now awaiting the autopsy report to ascertain if it was murder. They are also not ruling out the possibility of sexual assault. "Autopsy would ascertain if there is a sexual assault following the murder. Family members and others known to them are being questioned," said Chinmoy Biswal, DCP (south). Akash's relatives said they didn't have enemies and hadn't received ransom calls either.
