AIIMS bars professor after her student attempts suicide accusing her

AIIMS barred a microbiology professor from being a guide to students for three years, after one of her PhD students tried to commit suicide, citing harassment and abuse by her.
All students under her have been shifted to other supervisors.
The move comes after the 5th-year student attempted suicide by overdosing on drugs in his Gautam Nagar residence last month, triggering protests on campus.
Student alleges
'She used filthy language in front of everyone'
The student, a native of Jaipur, apprised the AIIMS director Dr Randeep Guleria through a letter where he wrote that she used filthy language in front of all.
He added that she made him and others do sampling of her patients all day long, leaving them with little time to pursue their PhD studies.
His fellowship is also getting delayed as a result.
Some contracted TB
AIIMS instructs supervisors to ensure proper lab infrastructure
The complainant, pursuing PhD for five years, also said that since the labs lacked proper safety equipments, some students under her have contracted TB.
Taking a note of this, AIIMS have instructed all supervisors to ensure that labs have proper measures in place.
A panel will also be formed to help students facing stressful situations during their course, said a senior doctor.
