Karva Chauth: Man stabs wife for not fasting; commits suicide
In a shocking incident, a woman was allegedly stabbed for not keeping a fast on Karva Chauth by her 32-year-old estranged husband, who then jumped to death from her residence in Delhi's Rohini. Husband jumped to death from fourth-floor terrace
The man, identified as Jaswinder Singh, was living away from his wife and daughter for a month. After filing for divorce, the court allowed him to meet his daughter on weekends. He went to the woman's house and asked her to accompany him to the terrace where he stabbed her. Neighbors gathered as she cried for help after which he jumped off the building.
Singh couldn't have taken such drastic step, say his parents
A neighbor saw Singh fall on a car and called police at around 12:30 am. Police found his body in a pool of blood, and the woman with stab wounds next to Singh as she collapsed after seeing his body. Singh's parents said he missed his daughter very much. DCP (Rohini) Rishi Pal said they registered a case at KN Katju police station.
Police verifying woman's claims to ascertain sequence of events
The woman later regained senses and told cops that she married Singh five years ago. Their marriage ran into trouble recently after which they separated. She claimed Singh was very upset as she didn't fast on Karva Chauth for the first time since their marriage.
