Man threatens Delhi woman with porn video, gets arrested
A man was recently arrested from Kolkata for allegedly blackmailing a Delhi woman by threatening her into depositing money into his account. The man allegedly blackmailed the 24-year-old woman by superimposing her picture in a porn video. Reports said that the accused used his sister's phone for the crime and also shared his mother's bank account details for depositing the money.
Woman received obscene video on WhatsApp last week: Police
DCP north-west Aslam Khan said that even though he used his sister's phone and mother's bank account details in the crime, it is yet to be probed if his relatives were aware of it. Khan said that the woman who resides in North Delhi's Model Town received an obscene video on WhatsApp last week where her face was superimposed on another woman's face.
Woman was brave enough to approach police
DCP Khan further said that the accused threatened her by saying that she should deposit Rs. 90,000 in his account, otherwise he would upload the video to social media sites. However, the woman was brave enough to approach the police rather than getting blackmailed into paying the money. After registering an FIR, a special team was put into action, added Khan.
Accused searched random numbers in Facebook search bar: Police
Adding that the arrested man lived with his family in Kolkata, the DCP said, "He would type random phone numbers from Facebook and if search revealed a girl's unprotected account, he would steal her photos." "Though he told police that it was the first time he had indulged in such a crime, we're suspecting he might be involved in more crimes," said DCP.
