Delhi Airport terminal T1 to get metro connectivity by March-end
People traveling to Terminal 1 of Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) from any part of Delhi and the National Capital Region will now be able to take the metro soon. As per a report, the terminal that caters domestic carriers like Indigo and SpiceJet will get the metro station by March end, as part of the 34.2-km Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden corridor. Metro connectivity to Terminal 1 is part of Magenta Line
The connectivity provided to the Terminal 1 of the Delhi Airport will be a part of the Magenta line. According to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) officials, while one section of the Magenta line between Botanical Garden and Kalkaji Mandir is already operational, the other sections of the line are likely to open by the end of March.
From March, T3 passengers can also take the Magenta line
The Terminal 3 of the Delhi Airport already has a metro connectivity through the Airport Express Line. Therefore, currently, passengers who need to go to Terminal 1, can take a feeder bus from the Aerocity Metro station. From March, passengers traveling on the Magenta Line, who have flights from T3, can get down at T1 and take the feeder service for T2 and T3.
The station will greatly help domestic passengers: DMRC spokesperson
According to officials, the fare of this metro line will be nominal and the station will be connected to the terminal through a subway with walkalators. A DMRC spokesperson said, "The station will greatly help domestic passengers. People coming from South Delhi will have a direct connectivity and will reach within 20 minutes. Similarly, from Laxmi Nagar passengers will reach within 50 minutes."
