Delhi: Traffic advisory released for commuters ahead of G20 Summit
Ahead of the much-anticipated G20 Summit in Delhi next week, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory for commuters due to full dress rehearsals on Saturday and Sunday. As these rehearsals are set to affect traffic flow in the national capital, commuters have been asked to avoid specified roads and plan their journeys accordingly during the designated time slots.

The national capital is gearing up to host the G20 Summit, which will bring together G20 member countries and several other guest nations to discuss diverse topics like international economic cooperation, climate change, and other global issues. Scheduled for September 9 and 10, the high-level summit will take place at the ITPO Convention Centre's "Bharat Mandapam" in Delhi's Pragati Maidan.
Delhi Traffic Police confirms timings for carcades rehearsals
In an official traffic advisory, the Delhi Traffic Police announced that the timings of rehearsals on Saturday will be from 8:30am to 12:00pm, from 4:30pm to 6:00pm and from 7:00pm to 11:00pm. On the other hand, the timings for rehearsals on Sunday have been confirmed as 8:00am to 9:00am, from 9:30am to 10:30am and between 12:30pm and 4:00pm.
Traffic restrictions for commuters on Saturday
Meanwhile, another official release announced that traffic will be restricted on Saturday at various locations, including Sardar Patel Marg-Panchsheel Marg, Mathura Road, and Janpath-Kartavya Path, among others. Commuters may experience heavier than normal traffic on these roads and junctions. Furthermore, motorists have been advised to take alternate routes such as Ring Road, Ashram Chowk, Mahatma Gandhi Marg, IP Flyover, ISBT Kashmiri Gate, and Majnu Ka Tila to commute between north and south Delhi.
Delhi Traffic Police's advisory for Sunday
Traffic movement will also be regulated on Sunday in areas like Mahatma Gandhi Marg, IP Flyover, and Ring Road. Commuters have been asked to take alternate routes like the DND Flyover, Moolchand Underpass, and AIIMS Chowk to commute between east and west corridors. Offices have been advised to opt for work-from-home arrangements from September 8 to 10 to minimize disruptions during the G20 Summit. Banks, financial institutions, stores, and commercial and business facilities will also remain closed on those days.

Putin, Jinping: Key names set to skip G20 Summit
While top global leaders are expected to be in Delhi from September 8 to attend next week's G20 Summit, some key names like Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin will skip the summit. Premier Li Qiang will reportedly represent China, while the Kremlin confirmed that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov would represent Russia in Delhi.
