'Fake' ED officials raid Delhi home, 'seize' Rs. 3 crore
In what can only be described as a movie-style heist, a group of men reportedly staged a fake Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid on a home in the Baba Haridas area of Dwarka, Delhi, on Saturday and seized more than Rs. 3 crore in cash. According to the news outlet The Times of India, the fake ED officials accused the family of holding hawala money and demanded that the family members appear for questioning.
Details on 'fake' ED raid at Delhi home
It has been learned that the imposters raided the home just past midnight, and they did not allow the family to call anyone. However, the family suspected something was wrong as the men had arrived in two cars without any official insignia. To add to the doubt, the accused men also carried pistols, and their behavior was anything but professional.
Family called PCR soon after fake ED team left
After the imposters left, the family reportedly called the police control room (PCR) at around 1:15am. When police arrived at the home, the family informed them that the "ED team" had gone toward Najafgarh's Mitraon village. Revealing details on what happened next, a senior copy told The Times of India, "The (PCR) teams who were deployed in Dwarka were alerted, and they started checks at different areas."

Similar fake ED raid in Mumbai
This incident is similar to one that occurred in January in Mumbai, where police arrested six people in connection with a fake ED raid on a jeweler's office. They recovered Rs. 2.11 crore in cash, four mobiles, three kilograms of gold, and one car. As per the Hindustan Times, the police revealed that the accused men had raided two offices of the jeweler.
