Earthquake alert: Minor jolts felt in Delhi, neighboring areas
Minor earthquake tremors were reportedly felt in Delhi and neighboring areas on Sunday morning though there have been no immediate reports of injuries or damage. According to the news outlet NDTV, tremors were felt in several parts of Haryana and Punjab, too. Reportedly, a 4.9 magnitude earthquake also struck parts of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) on Sunday morning.
Quake epicenter reported in Afghanistan
As per reports, the epicenter of the quake is said to be near the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region. According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), an earthquake of magnitude 5.9 occurred 70km southeast of Afghanistan's Fayzabad. Reports also claimed that the quake struck at around 11:19am (IST) at a depth of 220km from the surface.

Meanwhile, a powerful 6.0-magnitude quake struck numerous parts of Pakistan on Sunday morning, triggering panic among people and forcing them to flee their residences. According to the news agency PTI, the National Seismic Monitoring in Islamabad also reported that the epicenter of the quake was at the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region.
Solomon Islands jolted with 5.6 magnitude quake too
On the other hand, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that a quake of magnitude 5.6 jolted the Solomon Islands in the southwestern Pacific Ocean on Sunday. Furthermore, the USGS also revealed the epicenter was found to be 10.149 degrees south and 161.194 degrees east, respectively. As per ANI, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 103.9km. No tsunami alerts have been sounded.
