Delhi Police awards DMRC staff who helped save commuters' lives
As part of rapport building exercise, Delhi Police has rewarded a bunch of DMRC staff, whose alertness have saved lives of many commuters. Train operators, drivers and other staff were awarded for their courage and reflex, confirmed DMRC officials. This noble initiative comes after lives of a 57-year-old and a 23-year-old were saved by a driver and an operator, respectively, in this month.
Two lives were saved: Of a 57-year-old and a 23-year-old
While the 57-year-old man was saved when he was allegedly trying to commit suicide in front of a moving train at JLN Stadium metro station on July 7, the other man had accidentally fallen on the tracks at Udyog Bhawan station on July 18. Both were saved in the nick of time, police said, adding officials like them should be duly appreciated.
'Officials undergo psychometric tests that judge their ability to react'
DMRC, while welcoming the Delhi Police's move, said their staff members undergo rigorous training for these types of situations. "All operators undergo detailED training at our state-of-art institute before joining the Metro operations," said Anuj Dayal, ED, Corporate Communications, DMRC. He further said prior to assigning their zones, "they also have to appear for psychometric tests that judge their ability to react quickly."
