Delhi: Mother kills 8-month-old, husband finds baby's body on lap
A mentally deranged woman allegedly killed her eight-month-old son in Outer Delhi's Amar Vihar by slitting his throat, bludgeoning his head with a heavy brick-like object and chopping his body into pieces. The horrific incident was discovered yesterday by her husband, who found her sitting with the baby's body on her lap. Cops said the woman also tried to kill herself using a knife.
She didn't open the door after husband returned from work
The husband, who is a vegetable vendor, said that when he returned home from the weekly market on Friday, she didn't open the door despite repeated knocks. He went to his parents' room nearby and retired for the day. He returned in the morning and failed to get any response this time too. He then scaled the wall and witnessed the horror.
Baby not just decapitated, his stomach ripped open too
Describing the stomach-churning scene, Hari Shankar (31) said that his son's blood-soaked head was on the floor. His wife Sarika had not just decapitated him, she also smashed the head and ripped open his stomach. He found her sitting with the mutilated body on her lap. A neighbor said she saw scissors, brick, screwdriver and a battery in the room.
Husband asked his parents to take care of his daughters
She might be suffering from postpartum depression and psychosis, but nothing can be ascertained without counseling her. Shankar said that she would behave normally if she took her medicines and since her behavior was so erratic, he asked his parents to take care of his daughters. She has now been admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital and is still unconscious.
Earlier too, she had killed her son by choking him
Shankar said four years ago, she had also killed their two-month-old son by sitting on his chest. According to her family she regularly attended her treatment sessions at Lady Hardinge Hospital since the past nine years, but off late she was visiting a godman, who might have manipulated her into committing this brutal act. A murder case has been registered.
