Delhi Metro fares likely to rise Wednesday onwards
On Monday, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) accepted a recommendation to increase its minimum passenger fare from Rs. 8 to Rs. 10 and maximum passenger fare from Rs. 30 to Rs. 50. 25 eateries in Connaught Place denied licenses in 2 months
After two incidents of roofs collapsing in Connaught Place, the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has rejected applications for 25 eateries in the area. A senior NDMC official said over 100 applications were received for grants/renewal, of which 25 were denied. Roofs of two buildings in CP had collapsed in February, raising concerns about the structural stability of the commercial centre of Delhi.
Delhi witnessed hottest day of season on Sunday
Residents of Delhi witnessed the hottest day of this season on Sunday; the maximum temperature recorded was 44.1 degrees Celsius, five degrees above normal. The minimum temperature was recorded at 25.3 degrees Celsius, one notch above normal. The highest temperature recorded in the city was at Palam weather station. Levels of humidity fluctuated between 13% and 61%.
30% of Gurugram's infants are undernourished
The World Immunisation Week observed in Gurugram from 24th-30th April revealed that 30% of the city's infants suffer from deficiency of micro nutrients. Mothers, the source of nutrients for infants, were found malnourished when checked by doctors at the Gurugram Civil Hospital. Doctors at the hospital are now planning to launch a campaign spreading awareness amongst the need for proper nutrition for pregnant women.
2 Jet Airways aircraft grounded for colliding at IGIA
Jet Airways airline grounded two of its aircraft after they got into a minor collision at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) on Sunday. According to an official, the incident occurred in the afternoon; the two aircraft brushed against each other while "taxing out" to runway 29. The number of passengers and crew aboard both flights was over 200.
