All Delhi localities to soon get public-transport facilities within 500m
What's the story
Promising public transport accessibility for every nook and corner in the city, Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot yesterday launched an initiative called 'Connect Delhi.'
Under this, a study will be undertaken to check possible route-rationalization and last mile connectivity within 500mts of one's locality.
By July end, Delhiites will also be able to travel in DTC buses using Delhi Metro smart cards, Gahlot added.

2L people from remote areas of Delhi to be interviewed
Speaking at the launch, Gahlot said a high-level steering committee comprising DTC, DMRC and DIMTS officials, under his chairmanship, will be formed.
The panel will conduct a study for nine months, interviewing 2L people to come to a conclusion about the transport accessibility plan.
Along with DTC buses, the study will focus on Delhi Metro, metro feeder services, Gramin Sewa, e-rickshaws etc.

"There are demands for more DTC routes. We hope that we'll be able to provide transport services at a frequency of 15-20 minutes to every person," Gahlot said. "Unless commuters have a surety of bus availability, they will depend on private transport," he pointed out.

Seven transport hubs being created for village and suburban places
Yesterday's event, which was attended by transport secretary Varsha Joshi and DMRC MD Mangu Singh, also saw discussions on rationalization of bus routes and feeder services in Najafgarh area.
The AAP government is further planning to create seven rural transport hubs to connect villages and suburban places like Narela, Burari, Khajuri Khas, Kondli, Khanpur, Mehrauli Kapashera, Nazafgarh, Mundka and Khanjawala, among others.
