Delhi: Female ragpicker raped, murdered by 20-year-old
The body of a 35-year-old female ragpicker, battered to death with bricks and rods, was found in Delhi's Bhalswa Dairy. Police said she was raped and murdered by another ragpicker, 20-year-old Saufi, who has been arrested. The accused also indulged in necrophilia (sexual intercourse with the dead body). Victim was sexually abused: Police
Police said the 35-year-old victim, a mother of three, had dropped her children at school and was going to collect scrap when the incident took place. She had severe injuries to her genitals and head; the autopsy report had confirmed sexual abuse.
Police team conducted several raids to find killer
After discovering the woman's body, police registered a case of murder and constituted a team led by Bhalswa Dairy SHO Virender Singh to trace the killer. Based on eyewitnesses, police zeroed in on Saufi, who was the last person seen near the victim before her death. Thinking that nobody would suspect him, Saufi told a local he saw a body at the landfill.
Saufi confesses his crime
After being caught, the accused reportedly confessed his crime, saying he killed the woman as she did not let him touch her. Saufi also said he tried having sex with the victim's corpse in the middle of a field near the waste-dumping site.
