Delhi Police responds after Kejriwal claims cops misbehaved with Sisodia
The Delhi Police clarified on Tuesday that there was no misbehavior toward jailed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia in Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court. This came after a video showing cops accompanying Sisodia while media personnel questioned him about the Centre's Delhi ordinance surfaced. As per the police, it is against the law for an accused individual to issue statements to the media.
Why does this story matter?
This response from the Delhi Police came right after Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal claimed that the cops manhandled the former Delhi deputy CM while he was being produced before the court on Tuesday. Other AAP leaders also shared the video from the court, asking for the suspension of the policeman who is seen allegedly manhandling Sisodia in the said video.
Details on Delhi Police's official response
"The talk of police misbehavior with Mr. Manish Sisodia at the time of production in Rouse Avenue Court is propaganda. The police response as seen in the video was imperative from a security point of view," the Delhi Police wrote in Hindi on Twitter. "It is against the law to issue statements to the media by the accused in judicial custody," it added.

Earlier in the day, the Delhi CM took to Twitter and accused the police of manhandling Sisodia. The video showed a police officer dragging Sisodia away as reporters questioned him. "Does the police have the right to misbehave with Manish ji like this? Has the police been asked from above to do this?" Kejriwal wrote on Twitter in Hindi.
Here's what happened between police, Sisodia
In the video, Sisodia is seen surrounded by numerous policemen as reporters ask him about the confrontation between the AAP-led Delhi government and the central government over who controls officers in the national capital. "[Narendra Modi] ji has become very arrogant. He doesn't believe in democracy," Sisodia stated while a police officer, reportedly named AK Singh, tried to push the reporters away.
