Delhi Police organizes training session on cryptocurrencies
A fortnight after the Delhi Police announced a new individual unit for its cyber cell, it conducted a training session on digital currency for its officers on Tuesday. The training was held as increased number of cheating cases related to the cryptocurrencies are being reported in the city. The two-hour session was attended by officials including Special Commissioners, Joint Commissioners and DCPs.
It's a complex subject, need more sessions to understand: Police
The officers were taught largely about the evolving threat of cryptocurrencies in India. However, even after the two-hour long session, some officers said, "It was a complex subject and that they needed more sessions to understand it." Recently, the Delhi Police's crime branch has solved three such cases involving cryptocurrencies.
We were told about invention of cryptocurrency, not on investigation
Post the training session a DCP level officer said, "It's a complex subject. It requires technical expertise. We need more such classes to understand it and act accordingly." After attending the class, a Joint Commissioner said, "We were told about the invention of cryptocurrency, its regulation in other countries and the types of fraud involving it. But there was no session on an investigation."
